Acceptable Use Policy

Effective date: 19 July 2026

1. Scope

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to everyone who uses the services, websites, and APIs of Ratelimitly Technologies - FZCO ("Ratelimitly"). It is incorporated into and forms part of the Terms of Service. Capitalised terms have the meaning given there. We may update this AUP as described in the Terms.

2. Prohibited activities

You may not use the Service, and may not permit anyone else to use it, to:

  • violate any applicable law or regulation, or the rights of any person or entity;
  • infringe or misappropriate intellectual property, or transmit content you have no right to transmit;
  • distribute malware or other harmful code, or operate phishing, fraud, or other deceptive schemes;
  • misrepresent your identity or the origin of traffic, including by forging headers or identifiers;
  • support systems whose failure could cause death, personal injury, or severe physical or environmental damage (for example life-support or other safety-critical systems).

3. Service integrity

You may not:

  • probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or breach or circumvent its security or authentication measures, except under a responsible-disclosure arrangement agreed with us in writing (see the Security Overview);
  • access accounts, systems, or data you are not authorised to access;
  • interfere with or disrupt the Service, or impose load that materially exceeds your configured plan and limits;
  • circumvent, or attempt to circumvent, plan limits, usage metering, or billing;
  • reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code from the Service, except to the extent a law expressly permits it despite this restriction;
  • resell, white-label, or otherwise commercially exploit the Service without our prior written consent, or use it to build or benchmark a competing product for publication without our written consent.

4. Data safeguards

You are responsible for lawfully collecting and processing whatever data you route through or store in the Service, for maintaining any consents or notices your use requires, and for configuring the Service (including limits, keys, and fail-open or fail-closed behaviour) in a way that is appropriate for your application. Do not send us data the Service does not need — the data plane is designed to operate on rate-limit metadata, not your application's payloads.

5. Reporting and enforcement

Report suspected violations of this AUP to contact@ratelimitly.com. We may investigate suspected violations, and may suspend or limit the Service as described in the Terms of Service where we reasonably believe this AUP is being violated. You agree to cooperate reasonably with any such investigation. Where practicable we will notify you and work with you to restore service.
